Following a session in January on ‘how to thrive in your marketing career’, IPSE Ambassador Luan Wise is hosting a new event to discuss how the skillset of a marketer is evolving.

Luan will be joined by Professor Laura Chamberlain from the Warwick Business School, and together they will look at how best to meet the demands of emerging technologies, shifting consumer behaviours and evolving industry trends in 2024.

Luan and Laura will explore the distinction between skills and competencies, offering insights into how these concepts shape career progression. They will share frameworks for identifying and honing the skills needed at different stages of a marketing journey, whether someone is just starting out, advancing in a career within in-house roles or agencies, or navigating the world of freelancing.

About the speakers

Luan Wise is a chartered marketer and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing with over 25 years’ experience in agency, client-side and consultancy roles. She’s a LinkedIn Learning course instructor, lead trainer for Facebook and Instagram, and author of 'Relax! It’s Only Social Media', 'Planning for Success: A practical guide to setting and achieving your social media marketing goals', and 'Using Social Media at Work: How to maintain professional etiquette online'.

Professor Laura Chamberlain is an award-winning educator at Warwick Business School and Founder of Think Talk Thrive which empowers professional achievement across career journeys in marketing, business and management. Laura’s research has been published in highly ranked international journals and her passion for marketing education and teaching excellence is internationally recognised. Laura focuses on creating a bridge between academia and industry and works with organisations in a marketing consultancy capacity, develops thought leadership, is regularly a keynote speaker at conferences and events and designs and delivers bespoke CPD.
