Graphic Designer

The Role

As the Graphic Designer you will be essential to showcasing our visual identity across multiple brands.  Operating within a small and flexible team you will be responsible for executing creative briefs, maintaining brand consistency and idea generation.  Primary focus will be on editorial design, assisting with creation of brochures, event POS, social graphics and other brand assets across both print and digital applications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute creative briefs assigned by various departments, primarily for editorial design
  • Work with brand guidelines to develop design assets, such as infographics, imagery, social graphics, brochures and event POS
  • Adding or editing website content using the appropriate Content Management Systems; ensuring consistency of design and layout of content across the sites
  • Managing the day-to-day running of creative projects assigned
  • Coming up with new and innovative ways to developed creative look of the brand
  • When relevant, liaise with partner organisations by creating and delivering graphics and content that adhere to both organisations’ brand guidelines
  • Create custom illustrations and infographics where relevant
  • Reporting to the Senior Creative



  • Expert user of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Experience in editorial design, including text layup and infographic creation
  • Knowledge of all elements of the marketing mix – on and off-line, with a strong history of results
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal
  • Some experience of website design and UX understanding
  • Experience with creating illustrations, as opportunity to expand into this are available

Senior Press Officer

Main Purpose of Job

The Senior Press Officer reports directly to the Head of Press. The press team sits within the wider policy and external affairs team, which reports to the Director of Policy and External Affairs.

The Senior Press Officer will deliver excellent press and media coverage for IPSE, working closely with the policy, research and marketing teams, helping to boost the reputation of both IPSE.


The Candidate

The right candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, a good grasp of the political landscape and a strong background in either PR and communications or journalism.

Experience working in PR/Press for a membership organisation or trade body is desirable but not essential.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing lines, identifying positive story opportunities, and preparing proactive statements, press releases and comment
  • Liaising with the marketing team and Stories Officer to gather appropriate case studies for stories
  • Preparing, handling and delivering plans and briefings on high-profile and complex issues, often to short deadlines and under pressure
  • Handling incoming media enquiries, drafting response lines and reactive news releases
  • Where necessary, creating and pitching op-ed pieces, authored to IPSE spokespeople, to relevant journalists, editors, magazines and digital outlets including online blogs
  • Sub-editing, proof-reading and editing copy from across the business as required.
  • Acting as a point of contact between the organisation and other stakeholders’ press teams, including government departments, other business organisations and IPSE’s commercial partners
  • Curating the ‘Press Office’ section of the IPSE website, ensuring it is up to date with current press releases and blogs
  • Contributing to out of hours office cover on as required, and crisis management where there is a real or perceived threat to IPSE’s reputation
  • Taking responsibility for the relevant twitter handles
  • Preparing evaluation reports for the IPSE board highlighting recent media coverage


Person Specification and Experience

Degree or equivalent qualification


At least two years’ experience in either press and PR or journalism


Exceptional writing skills, able to quickly produce quality copy for a range of different audiences


Experience of networking, influencing and building effective relationships within a complex organisation


Established contacts with national print, broadcast journalists and programme makers


Experience working in press and PR for a membership organisation or trade body with political objectives


Proven track record of securing high-profile national media coverage      


Experience of working with a wide range of people from different cultures and countries

Salary: £30-35,000 depending on experience
