Struggling with freelancer finances? Free Manchester event will help you find the answers

IPSE's My Money is coming to Manchester on Wednesday 17 October.
Held at co-working space WeWork Spinningfields, it will include advice on everything from mortgages and accounting to saving for later life.
It will open with general tips and advice from IPSE and freelancer insurance specialist Sherpa. Then the main event of the evening is a panel discussion chaired by author, founder of Young Money blog and IPSE’s Freelancer of the Year, Iona Bain.
On the panel will be James Foster, Commercial Manager at contractor accountants SJD Accounting, Tom Allder, CMO of self-employed mortgage specialists CMME, Annelise Searle, Marketing and Communications Executive at freelancer platform The Work Crowd, and Chris Pipe, Planning Director at Planning House and winner of IPSE’s New to Freelancing Award.
The Manchester My Money event will coincide with the launch of a new report by IPSE and Sherpa, ‘The Path to Prosperity’. With input from freelancers across the UK, it considers what exactly constitutes financial wellbeing for the self-employed. It finds that freelancers are almost the ‘YOLO’ workers of the modern economy – financially content for today but worried for tomorrow.
The report makes a number of key recommendations to improve the financial wellbeing of the self-employed – particularly putting greater protections in place, building up confidence and increasing the general understanding of the needs of the self-employed.

Through My Money and our latest report, we are taking to the country to try and change that.
