Autumn Statement 2015: Major IR35 changes expected

Tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday 25 November) will see the Chancellor, George Osborne deliver his Autumn Statement and Spending Review to Parliament.

IPSE anticipates more information on the proposals to change IR35. Recent speculation in the press has been hugely concerning (see here for more on the mooted ‘one month rule’) and we will be carefully analysing the policies that are put forward.

Aside from IR35, It is also likely Government will provide further details on their plans for travel and subsistence tax relief, an issue that IPSE has campaigned strongly on in recent months. Other issues to keep an eye on include changes to Entrepreneurs’ Relief, further devolution to cities, a “flat rate” of pensions tax relief and a rumoured increase to fuel duty.

IPSE’s policy team will be following events as they happen – follow @IPSEwestminster from 12:30pm on twitter for the latest updates. In the coming days, we will provide a full analysis for IPSE members on the ramifications for independent professionals with particular focus on IR35 and travel and subsistence.
