New freelancers, SEISS extension, corporation tax and more: what does the Budget mean for the self-employed?
IPSE's Tristan Grove on what the Budget means for freelancers and the self-employed.

Thank you to all of you who attended our event My Money, the Journey. For those of you couldn’t make it to our Manchester or London event, we have got a quick little round-up!
We hosted our annual evening of financial discussions, advice and networking but this time we added a twist to it! We gave the reins over to you, allowing you to voice your freelance financial concerns to a range of industry experts.
The event was based on a board game, moving ‘spaces’ around the venue and collecting My Money tokens allowing you to tackle the many areas of finance. We also had various workshops around the topics of how to save, financial wellbeing, IR35, and Brexit.
This event was for both those new to self-employment and those at more experienced levels - there was something for everyone, including the exciting array of nibbles and refreshments on the evening!
In Manchester, our workshops went down a treat! We had Ian Richards, Chartered Financial Planner and founder of Work to Live Financial Planning, speaking on how to make sense of your money. Ryan Barnett from IPSE also held a workshop, giving an overview on Brexit and how it may have implications on your personal business.
In London, we had four workshops held by our freelance experts Erica Wolfe-Murray, Iona Bain and our IPSE experts. Erica spoke on setting unique rates that are tailored to your personal niche, whilst Iona covered how to make the most of your money and maximise the returns on your savings. Andy Chamberlain from IPSE spoke on IR35 and how it can affect your take home pay and finally we again welcomed Ryan Barnett, our economist, discussing the Brexit conundrum and its effects on the self-employed.
The workshops provided a fantastic framework to both events, allowing attendees to have private seminars that answered the questions that they may not have had the chance otherwise.
We would like to thank our partners and Freelance Experts that contributed so much to the success of the event and shared their wisdom with our attendees on the night.
