Board elections: do you have what it takes to be an IPSE Director?

2020 has been a year like no other. The pandemic has become not only a health crisis, but also an income crisis – and one that has particularly hit the self-employed sector.

Board Nominations

Now, more than ever, IPSE is the voice of the self-employed in the crucial debates brought on by this crisis – from support for the self-employed to the future of contractor taxation.  We have also doubled our efforts to provide members with the products, services and information you need at this time of challenge.

As we navigate these issues, we need an effective team of non-executive Directors to help set our strategy and guide us through these times. That is why we are looking to elect – from our talented and diverse membership - two new Directors to join the Board.

Why stand?

Being a Director is a hugely rewarding experience both because you’re building senior leadership experience and also because it’s one of the most significant contributions you can make to IPSE and the self-employed community.

As a Director, you’ll help shape IPSE’s strategy, hold our executive team to account and also oversee the running of this high-profile, multidisciplinary business and professional services company.

How the elections work

We’ll be publishing more details about the election process, the skills and experience we’re looking for and who can stand for election over the next few weeks.

However, the process couldn’t be simpler.

To stand for election to the Board, you will need to nominate yourself. Nominations will open on 8th January and close on 22nd January.

Self-nominating is a quick online process.

IPSE’s Nominations Committee will then assess your application to decide if you meet the criteria for the role. The committee will select the strongest candidates to go through to a final stage, an election by IPSE’s 16,000 members.

Voting opens on 15th February 2021 and closes on 25th February.

Do you have what it takes?

Being a Director is extremely rewarding, but it’s also a serious responsibility. We will be looking for high-calibre candidates with the experience, knowledge and judgement to make a real difference as part of the boardroom team. You don’t need to have been a non-executive before – of course, it helps – but, as well as your passion and commitment, you will need to show that you have the insight, intelligence and big-picture understanding to make a real contribution.

If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you. Keep an eye out for more information about the elections, especially when nominations open on 8th January.
