A month of financial guidance for freelancers

This November, we have been engaging in a month of financial guidance in connection with My Money. The month-long event consists of a range of Q&A sessions, webinars, and member exclusive events offering insights and practical tips on a range of freelancing subjects including how to save for later life, mortgages and tax investigation.

We kicked off the month with Chris James from the Workwell Group who gave a great webinar all about making your business work for you. Chris dissected the compliance cycle and its limitations and then described how, as a business owner, you should be setting not only current priorities, but priorities for the future. With a focus on forecasting and calculating the future, Chris concluded the webinar by emphasising the importance of getting the right advice from the right people and looking after yourself as the business owner.

Alistair Morris continued the series with a webinar on excelling at client pitches to boost earnings and financial security. The session looked at personal branding including CV writing, digital footprints including LinkedIn profiles, and website design as well as the impact of face-to-face or virtual meetings. Alistair went on to navigate the career autobiography as well as explaining the sales wedge and the how to sell yourself as a businessperson.

Most recently, we held a webinar with Jackie Stewart, Director of Financial Wealth Community, titled ‘Financing your freelance business’. The interactive session tackled start up costs, getting the sales price right and where to go for finance. Jackie outlined helpful research and evidence and asked important questions for the self-employed whilst providing expert advice throughout.

Our My Money month isn’t over yet as we continue on the 22nd of November with a webinar on the cost-of-living crisis and cutting pension contributions with Georgie Burks from pension experts Penfold. Click this link to find out about all of our fantastic upcoming events.
