One of the main subjects of discussion was support for limited companies during the Coronavirus crisis. It was recently reported the Minister was considering options for limited company directors, one of IPSE's core policy focuses. A business owner himself, the Minister recognised that most self-employed people incorporate and pay themselves through dividends for legitimate reasons.

Mr Scully also pointed to the future, acknowledging that a conversation was due around self-employment in the modern economy. Although he noted “no one wants to see austerity 2.0”, he said there needed to be a discussion about the fairness of working status rules and taxes in the UK (including IR35).

Mr Scully took away many questions and concerns raised by listeners about Universal Credit, applying for support and how to get the economy moving again.
