"Underwhelming" Labour manifesto offers little detail for the self-employed, says IPSE

Responding to the launch of Labour's 2024 election manifesto, IPSE said it is disappointed in the lack of new detail on measures to support the self-employed.

The UK’s self-employed trade association, IPSE, said that it is disappointed by a lack of detail on the Labour Party’s plans to support the self-employed following the launch of their election manifesto today.

Andy Chamberlain, Director of Policy at IPSE, said: “In a week marked by big policy offers to the self-employed, Labour’s highly anticipated manifesto is an underwhelming read if you work for yourself.

“We had hoped to hear more detail about Labour’s New Deal for Working People and stronger measures to clamp down on poor payment practices. It’s disappointing that we may not learn more about these self-employed policy priorities before polling day.”
