London South Bank University joins IPSE as the newest University Partner

IPSE’s University Partnership network expands as London South Bank University (LSBU) becomes our latest partner. Recognised as Entrepreneurial University of the Year 2016 by Times Higher Education Awards, LSBU are continuing to demonstrate their dedication to supporting their students and graduates pursuing entrepreneurial activities and self-employment. The partnership will specifically focus on students within their School of Arts and Creative Industries (ACI), many of whom are likely to go on to become self-employed after graduation.
The University provides an extensive range of enterprise and entrepreneurship support. By becoming an IPSE University Partner, they are building on their support for students and graduates who are likely to work for themselves. LSBU runs activities such as free workshops and events, competitions, and bootcamps, as well as their own photography agency, South Bank Collective CIC. They also give students and graduates access to office space, mentoring and 1-2-1 guidance. The IPSE University Partnership will help to extend their support, particularly engaging students who are seeking to become freelancers.
On 29 March, Education and Training Manager, Lydia Wakefield, will lead a launch workshop with LSBU’s Arts and Creative Industries students. The workshop will give students an introduction to freelancing and self-employment, exploring the benefits and challenges as well as the practical processes of setting up.
Lydia Wakefield commented: “With two million freelancers, and growing, in the UK, it is more important than ever to ensure the next generation of freelancers are prepared to work this way. Each of our university partners recognise the importance of educating and enabling their students to work for themselves, either shortly after graduation or in the future.”
