Tax status and its implications has been a long-standing issue for many self-employed professionals and their end clients.

With legislative updates over the years and a range of factors to consider when determining tax status, self-employed tax status can be difficult to understand, and comes with dire consequences if you get it wrong.

In this webinar hosted by IPSE Andy's Chamberlain and presented by Danny Batey, Senior Consultant at Markel Tax, explains all you need to know about self-employed tax status, including:

  • How self-employed tax status is decided
  • What are the key status tests
  • Who is responsible for determining status and who holds the tax & NIC liability for getting it wrong
  • CEST and HMRC’s Employment Status Manual
  • HMRC’s favourite industries and professions when enquiring into self-employed status
  • Common tax status myths
  • What is S44 and who could it apply to
  • What can we expect over the next 12 months
