International Women’s Day is a moment to reflect on progress, but also to confront the areas where inequality remains.

One of the most significant gaps still facing women today is financial security. On average, men have nearly twice as much in their pensions as women. Career breaks, childcare costs, the gender pay gap and lower levels of financial confidence all contribute to this disparity. For self-employed women, the challenges of building long-term financial stability can feel even greater.

In this special session marking International Women’s Day, award-winning financial adviser Rubekka Sharma will explore the realities behind the financial gap between men and women and share practical strategies to help close it.

Rubekka has long observed how women often approach investing with caution, particularly within a financial advice landscape that can feel male-dominated. Drawing on her experience, she will provide insight, guidance and practical steps to help women feel more confident, informed and in control of their financial future.

This is an opportunity to move beyond awareness and focus on action.

What Will Be Covered

During this session, we will explore:

  • The current financial gap between men and women, and why it exists
  • How career breaks, childcare costs and the gender pay gap impact long-term wealth
  • Why women often approach investing differently
  • Strategies to build financial confidence and readiness
  • Practical steps to strengthen pension planning and long-term financial security
  • Considerations particularly relevant for self-employed women
