The role of the IPSE board remains crucial in setting strategy and providing leadership, guidance and oversight to the organisation. The IPSE Director Elections are a vital part of this, ensuring IPSE members are at the very heart of decision-making.
After a competitive election process, the IPSE board is delighted to welcome two newly elected Non-Executive Directors.
Below, we take a closer look at the two new Directors, outlining their backgrounds and the experience they bring to the IPSE board.
Following the conclusion of the IPSE Director election, the board is pleased to announce the election of Lisa Chadwick as an elected Generalist Non-Executive Director.
Lisa brings a broad professional background and a fresh perspective to the board, having more recently moved into self-employment herself. As a newer member of the self-employed community, Lisa has firsthand experience of navigating working for yourself for the first time - and of the value that IPSE can provide in supporting that journey.
On her election to the IPSE board, Lisa commented:
“I’m delighted to be elected as a Non-Executive Director of IPSE, the UK’s only membership association dedicated to the self-employed.
As someone relatively new to self-employment, IPSE has been invaluable to me in the support and benefits it offers. I’m pleased to now be able to help drive the strategy forward, amplify the voice of the self-employed, and reach more independent workers like myself.
Thank you to the IPSE members who voted for me, and to the IPSE team and board for such a warm welcome. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

Following the same election process, the board is also pleased to announce the election of Martin Spiller as an elected Finance Non-Executive Director.
Martin brings extensive experience working with founders, independents and small businesses, and a strong understanding of the financial realities facing self-employed people. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with entrepreneurs and growing organisations, making him well placed to provide financial oversight and challenge at board level.
On his election, Martin said:
“I’m delighted to be elected as a Non-Executive Director of IPSE, the home of the UK’s freelancers, contractors and other gloriously independent misfits.
I’ve spent most of my career working with founders, independents and small businesses, so helping to shape the voice that fights our corner feels particularly important in what are likely to be challenging times.
I’ll bring plenty of enthusiasm, the odd awkward question — especially about spreadsheets — and, hopefully, a good dose of common sense. Thank you to IPSE members for voting for me, and to the board and team for the warm welcome. I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and being useful.”

Members will be formally introduced to IPSE’s newly elected Directors at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 11 February at 5pm.
