IPSE is delighted to announce it is has won the BEIS Sector Representation of the Year Award at the prestigious Trade Association Forum (TAF) Best Practice Awards 2018.

The awards recognise and reward best practice among trade associations in the UK.

Simon McVicker, IPSE’s director of policy and public affairs, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have again won this prestigious award. We work hard, listening to our members and representing the UK’s self-employed sector to government. It is great to be recognised for it.

“In particular, this is a testament to IPSE’s response to the Taylor Review, where we presented key evidence and encouraged a positive approach to self-employment.

“Our policy team developed strong links with the Department for Business and this allowed us gain a better understanding of the government’s perspective and this enabled us to target our recommendations more effectively.”

In it’s final submission to the Taylor review, IPSE set our six key ways the self-employed can be supported, which included clarifying the confusion around employment status; developing a fairer maternity, paternity and childcare support; and creating a fairer, more efficient tax system.

When Matthew Taylor published his report in July last year, IPSE was pleased to see that a number of it’s key points had been taken into consideration.
