IPSE announces University Partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London

IPSE is today delighted to announce a new University Partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London, extending our engagement with universities and increasing self-employment awareness and support for their students.
With degrees through their Institute of Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship, dedicated enterprise support and the Goldsmiths Innovation Awards, the University is already demonstrating strong support for students pursuing or considering their own business ventures.
As part of the partnership, IPSE will be working closely with Goldsmiths to deliver workshops, provide expert resources and aide the development of their enterprise support.
Goldsmiths’ students will also have the opportunity to join IPSE as Student members to further equip and empower them to launch successful freelance careers.
Sixteen per cent of freelancers work within Creative, Literary and Media occupations, making these the most represented sectors within self-employment.
Therefore, with many Goldsmiths’ students leaving university with degrees related to these sectors and becoming self-employed, this partnership extends and enhances the University’s support for students embarking on freelance and self-employed careers.

Goldsmiths’ review of their employability strategy recognises the changing world of work and the relevance it has for their students. We look forward to working with Goldsmiths and their students to develop their freelance career support.”
Anthony Crowther, Student Enterprise & Skills Manager at Goldsmiths added: “Many Goldsmiths students freelance during their degrees and go on to have successful graduate careers working for themselves. Goldsmiths recently spent six months developing and consulting on a university-wide employability strategy, and support for students starting their own business or becoming self-employed is a key aspect of our approach.
“We look forward to working with IPSE to provide even more support for our students and graduates so they can establish and develop their freelance careers.”
