Modern Working: The Age of Self-Employment
On Wednesday 25 April, join IPSE for our second biennial policy conference – in partnership with Demos, a leading cross-party think tank dedicated to social and economic change.
The conference, hosted by esteemed news presenter Cathy Newman, will explore the rise of self-employment and the future of work in the modern economy.
IPSE and Demos will bring together some of the most dynamic, resourceful and creative entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals from across the UK and beyond. Along with leaders from the worlds of policy-making, business and the media, they will explore and debate some of the some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing the modern labour market.
Some of the key sessions include:
- Improving the security of self-employment – particularly pensions and lifetime savings
- The future of work: how automation and technology are changing the way we work
- An interactive session with business experts and leading freelancers discussing business proposals from the audience
The day will open with a presentation by Demos of the findings from a major new research project into the UK’s self-employed economy. As the conference goes on, there will also be keynote speeches from government and business leaders on building the economy around the UK’s burgeoning flexible labour market.
Throughout the day, there will be a strong emphasis on audience participation – and plenty of opportunity to take part in the debate. Then the conference will round off with a drinks reception – and the chance to network with government and business leaders from across the country.
Check back soon for confirmed speakers and a full conference programme.
